If you’re planning a trip to Thailand and looking for the ultimate travel destinations, this guide will lead you to the hidden treasures you seek.

Having explored Thailand for 25 days, I feel compelled to share my personal favorites with you. While I’ve highlighted some of these places on my Instagram Stories, I wanted to provide a more complete list of the absolute best spots that are truly worth a visit.

Note: Please note that this list is solely based on the places I had the opportunity to visit during my time in Thailand. Thailand is a country rich in diverse landscapes, delectable cuisine, and warm-hearted people. If you don’t find a specific place you are looking for in this list, it could be because I haven’t had the chance to explore it yet.

Take in the City Views at Wat Saket (The Golden Mount), Bangkok

Wat Saket Temple in Bangkok, Thailand

The Wat Saket temple, constructed by King Rama III in the early 1800s, holds historical significance as it was once the highest point in Bangkok. To reach the summit of the temple, you can ascend a flight of stairs that encircle the temple. At the Golden Mount temple, located in Bangkok, you will gain a new perspective as you take in magnificent views of the city that are bound to leave you in awe.

Visit Wat Arun Temple, Bangkok

The “Temple of the Dawn,” Wat Arun, is indeed located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. Constructed in the Khmer-Buddhist architectural style, this temple has gained recognition as a prominent landmark in the city. Symbolically, Wat Arun represents Mount Meru, which is considered the center of the universe in Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. It’s worth noting that there is a nominal entrance fee required to enter this shrine.

Khao San Road, Bangkok

Khao San Road in Bangkok has grown to be a popular tourist destination known for its vibrant nightlife, budget-friendly hotels, and diverse culinary options. It’s true that you can find a variety of street food, including fried insects, which may be an adventurous gastronomic experience for some.

While Khao San Road is generally considered safe, it’s important to remain vigilant, especially in crowded areas. Opportunistic individuals might target distracted tourists, so it’s advisable to keep your valuables secure by emptying your pockets and carrying your backpack in front of you to minimize the risk of theft. By taking these precautions, you can enjoy the energetic atmosphere of Khao San Road while keeping your belongings safe.

The Wat Chet Lin temple grounds are known for their stunning beauty. What makes Wat Chet Lin unique is its distinct atmosphere compared to other temples in the old city. Each temple has its own character and style, offering visitors a diverse range of experiences.

Speaking with a monk can be a rewarding and insightful experience. If you are fortunate, you may have the chance to engage in conversations about Buddhism, Thai culture, or simply gain a deeper understanding of the temple itself. Interacting with monks can provide valuable insights into their way of life and offer a glimpse into their spiritual practices.

Exploring temples like Wat Chet Lin allows you to immerse yourself in the rich traditions and serenity that permeate these sacred spaces.

Wat Sri Suphan (Silver Temple), Chiang Mai

Wat Sri Suphan (Silver Temple) in Chiang Mai, Thailand

The Wat Sri Suphan, also known as the Silver Temple, is a popular attraction in Chiang Mai. This temple stands out due to its remarkable silver craftsmanship, which is a unique feature not commonly seen in other temples.

Built in 1505 in the Lanna architectural style, Wat Sri Suphan showcases the impressive skills of the local silver craftsmen. The intricate silver detailing on the temple walls, roofs, and interiors reflects the artistic traditions and craftsmanship of the community in Chiang Mai.

Visiting the Silver Temple allows you to marvel at the stunning silverwork and appreciate the cultural heritage of the region. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about the local community’s craftsmanship and their contribution to the preservation of traditional arts.

Please note that women are not allowed to enter the ordination hall of Wat Sri Suphan, as it is a place of worship reserved for male monks. However, women can admire the exterior and explore the nearby areas of the temple grounds.

Visit Chiang Mai Elephant Legend Sanctuary

Chiang Mai Elephant Legend Sanctuary is a fantastic experience! This sanctuary is renowned for its ethical approach to elephant conservation and welfare. Allowing the elephants to roam freely in their natural habitat is an important aspect of their well-being and contributes to their overall happiness.

Being able to observe and interact with these magnificent creatures up close must have been a truly unforgettable experience. Elephants are indeed one of nature’s most adorable and awe-inspiring animals. Their gentle nature and fascinating behaviors make them a favorite among many visitors.

Activities such as feeding, bathing, and even walking with elephants are often offered at sanctuaries like this one, providing visitors with an opportunity to have a genuine connection and learn more about these incredible animals. Watch the Sunset at Ao Nang Beach, Krabi

Krabi is a popular tourist destination in Thailand. This location is especially beautiful during the golden hour. Staying in Ao Nang is an excellent “base” for exploring the entire Krabi region.

Ao Nang’s beach is ideal for a morning stroll or watching the sunset. Furthermore, this beach has several longtail boats for hire that will take you directly to Phra Nang Cave Beach and the Instagram-famous Railay Beach.

Sunbathe in Railay Beach West, Krabi

Warning! This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Krabi, Thailand. This lovely beach is right adjacent to Ao Nang Beach. Railay Beach is only 10-15 minutes by longtail boat from Ao Nang Beach.

I recommend going to Railay Beach West because there is no real “beach” in Railay East, only a muddy tidal bay. Each side, however, is only a 10-minute walk away. While you’re there, you can also visit Ao Phra Nang beach and the famous Princess Cave.

Visit Wat Kaew Korawaram Temple, Krabi

Take a public bus from Ao Nang Beach to Krabi town if you’re feeling daring. The one-way fare is approximately 50 baht per person, and the bus can be flagged down anywhere along Ao Nang’s main highways. Look out for white pickup trucks with bench seats.

Krabi town is home to the Wat Kaew Korawaram temple. This is a large Buddhist temple on a hill with a view of Krabi’s downtown. The temple is believed to have been built in 1887. It is one of the largest temples in Thailand.

Get lost in Secret Beach (DK Beach), Koh Lanta

With the exception of Chiang Mai, I found Koh Lanta to have its own distinct charm. Koh Lanta is a more tranquil getaway with stunning scenery.

The island is only 43 miles from Krabi, but its endless strands of beaches, jungles, and bohemian, laid-back vibe make it feel thousands of miles away.

I believe Koh Lanta is the best option for avoiding crowds. During my stay, I discovered beautiful beaches that looked like they were straight out of a travel magazine. Between Long and Khlong Khong beaches is Secret Beach (my personal favorite).

A small wooden bar at the end of the beach is surrounded by a beautiful jungle next to the beach. Furthermore, Secret Beach is an ideal place to unwind in the morning, read a book, listen to music, and enjoy nature.

Relax in Kantiang Bay, Koh Lanta

Last but not least, Kantiang Bay is a half-hour drive from Saladan Pier on Koh Lanta’s southern tip. A beautiful beach surrounded by lush jungle can be found here.

Kantiang Bay in Koh Lanta, Thailand

Craving ultimate tranquility, I chose Kantiang Bay for my final days in Thailand. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not where you’ll find pulsating nightlife or rowdy crowds. This is a haven for daring travelers seeking serenity, a sanctuary for souls yearning for sun-kissed days and quietude. Imagine turquoise waters lapping against pristine shores, emerald jungles whispering secrets in the breeze, and sunrise yoga sessions with only the waves as your audience. If you’re bold enough to embrace the unexpected and discover your inner adventurer, Kantiang Bay might just be the whispered paradise you never knew you craved.
